Opened as a tavern, this establishment later became a snack bar in the 40s, changing once more into the café-pastry shop of today. Here you can enjoy afternoon snacks with coffee and hot chocolate, hot chocolate with cream - also called a Swiss -, iced drinks and tiger nut juice (horchata). You can also taste their delightful buns, strawberries and cream, Catalan cream (rich egg custard with a golden brown layer of caramelised sugar on top), or Mató, a typical Catalan goat's cheese (similar to cottage cheese in appearance). When served with honey, the mel i mató is an attractive contrast of tastes and textures worth trying.
