When it opened in 1842, at the end of the Ramblas, this was one of Barcelona's first grand hotels built in early 19th-century modernist style. Some of the original remains of the 17th-century Franciscan monastery that stood here first have been incorporated into the building. You'll find it beside the Liceu, Barcelona's Opera House, so it's an ideal choice for music lovers. The bedrooms are comfortable and many offer views of the hustle and bustle on the Ramblas below.
