This is a celebration of Mercy Day (September 24), that takes place annually in the city. Various kinds of social and community programs are staged, including musical performances, street parties, and the offering of prayers to tghe Virgin of Mercy, who is believed to have rescued the city from a plague of locusts way back in 1687. The festival lasts for about a week.
