The Gothic church and its adjoining convent were founded in 1327 by Queen Elisenda of Montcada to house the nuns of the Order of Saint Clare. The convent has a courtyard with a delightful garden and a Renaissance-style fountain. Everything has been carefully maintained and restored, including the nun's cells, the dining hall, kitchen and infirmary. You can see some of the religious paintings belonging to the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection in one of the rooms. Although much of the convent is closed to the public since there are still nuns living here, you can visit the Museum.
