This theatre was opened about ten years by the Teatro Fronterizo theatre company, under the direction of José Sanchís Sinistierra, the playwright. It now belongs to the Barcelona Alternative Theatre Co-ordinating Committee. The name Beckett, after the Irish author Samuel Beckett, was chosen to reflect a statement of principles. In this theatre all the limits of stage sense and play-writing of our time are examined. It welcomes some of the most promising generations of new authors and creators of performing arts. The organisers always focus on quality and risk. It is a small but very versatile theatre, which constantly changes the layout of the stage and the seating.
